Description

The 3M™ 8511 Particulate N95 Mask , is a disposable particulate respirator designed to help provide reliable respiratory protection with at least 95% filtration efficiency against certain particles. The respirator is designed for use for particulates such as those from grinding, sanding, sweeping, sawing, bagging, or other dusty operations. This respirator can also help reduce inhalation exposures to certain airborne biological particles (examples: mold, Bacillus anthracis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis), but cannot eliminate the risk of contracting an infection, disease. The soft interior material provides increased comfort while the cup-like design makes the respirator roomy and durable. Braided headbands and an adjustable M-shaped nose clip help provide a custom, secure seal. The respirator incorporates 3M's proprietary technology with advanced electrostatically charged microfiber filter media designed for easy breathing. This respirator is compatible with a variety of eye protection and hearing protection. Equipped with a 3M™ Cool Flow™ exhalation valve, this respirator is ideal for work situations involving heat, humidity or long periods of use. Instructions for use

Assembly instructions. Must be followed each time the respirator is worn.

1. Take the respirator in your hand, with the nosepiece at your fingertips, allowing the headbands to hang freely below your hand.

2. Position the respirator under your chin with the nose piece up. Pull the top strap over your head, resting it high up the back of your head. Pull the lower strap over your head and place it around the neck below the ears.

3. Place your fingers of both hands at the top of the metal nose. Using both hands, mold the nose area to the shape of your nose by pushing inward while moving your fingertips down both sides of the nosepiece. Pinching the nosepiece with one hand can result in poor fit and less efficient breathing performance. Use two hands.

4. Perform user seal verification before each port. Check the seal between the respirator and the face, place both hands fully on the respirator and inhale strongly. Be careful not to disturb the position of the respirator. Negative pressure should be felt inside the respirator. If air is leaking around the nose, readjust the nosepiece as described in step 3.

If air is leaking around the respirator edges, pull the straps up along the sides of your head.

If you CANNOT get a good seal, DO NOT enter the contaminated area. Consult your supervisor.

Withdrawal Instructions

• Refer to step 2 of the fitting instructions and wear the respirator by hand to maintain the position on the face. Pull the lower strap over the head. Still holding the respirator in place, pull the top strap over the head and remove the respirator.
